Age Spots
Out, You Spot!
Age spots are flat, oval areas of increased pigmentation that usually appear brown or black. They are considered a form of hyperpigmentation (darkening of the skin) and typically develop in people with fair skin. That said, they definitely don’t discriminate against those with darker complexions. All’s fair in love and age spots, we suppose.

Age spots occur on the areas of skin that traditionally see the most sun over the years, such as the face, neck, décolleté, shoulders, backs of hands and tops of feet. Exposure to sunlight will further damage and darken existing age spots, which is why you gotta get serious with the SPF. Daily sun protection is key in protecting against age spots, and exfoliation, deep hydration and restorative nutrients can also help revive hyperpigmented areas.
